Privacy Policy — Commando Browser
Last updated: July 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Commando Browser ("the
App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects
information when you use the app. Commando Browser is an Android web browser
with built-in ad blocking, downloads, an AI assistant, weather, news, and
cricket score features.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Browsing Data (stored only on your device)
- Browsing
history, bookmarks, and saved search history are stored locally on your
device in the app's private database. This data is not uploaded to our
servers and is not accessible to us.
- Open
tabs and tab thumbnails are also kept only on-device and are cleared when
you close tabs or use Incognito mode.
- Incognito
tabs are never saved to history or bookmarks.
1.2 Location
The App requests coarse and fine location permission
to:
- Show
local weather conditions and forecasts on the home screen.
- Show
region-relevant news categories.
Location is used only to fetch weather/news for your area
and is sent to our weather data provider (Open-Meteo) as coordinates for that
single request. We do not store your location history on our servers.
1.3 Camera and Microphone
- Camera
access is used only if you use the image/visual search feature in the
search bar (e.g. scanning a barcode/image to search).
- Microphone
access is used only if you use voice search. Both are only activated when
you actively tap the camera or microphone icon — the App does not access
the camera or microphone in the background.
1.4 Downloads and Storage
The App requests storage-related permissions to save files
you choose to download (videos, images, documents, etc.) to your device's
Downloads folder, and to show download progress notifications. Downloaded files
remain on your device under your control.
1.5 AI Assistant
If you use the built-in AI Assistant feature, the text you
type is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. We do not attach
your browsing history, location, or personal files to these requests unless you
explicitly include them in your message. Please avoid sharing sensitive
personal information in AI Assistant conversations. Use of this feature is
subject to Google's Gemini API
terms.
1.6 Analytics
The App uses Firebase Analytics to collect basic,
aggregated usage statistics (e.g. which features are used, crash reports,
general app performance) to help us improve the App. This data is associated
with an anonymous device/installation identifier, not your name or email,
unless you sign in with a Google account through the App.
1.7 Account Sign-In (if applicable)
If the App offers Google Sign-In, we receive basic profile
information (name, email, profile picture) from Google to identify your account
within the App. We do not use this to access your Gmail, Drive, or other Google
data beyond basic profile identification.
2. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services, each
governed by their own privacy policy:

We do not control how these third parties handle data beyond

policies.
3. Ad Blocking
The App's ad blocker works entirely on your device using a
locally stored list of known ad/tracker domains. No browsing data is sent to us
or any third party to power ad blocking.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, sell, or share:
- Your
browsing history or bookmarks (kept local to your device only)
- Passwords
or form data you enter on websites
- The
contents of files you download
- Payment
or financial information
5. Data Retention
- Locally
stored data (history, bookmarks, downloads, cached tabs) remains on your
device until you clear it via the App's settings or uninstall the App.
- Analytics
data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention
periods and can typically be reset by clearing app data.
6. Children's Privacy
Commando Browser is not directed at children under 13 (or
the relevant minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
7. Your Choices
- You
can disable location access at any time via your device's App Permissions
settings; weather/local news features will be unavailable if you do.
- You
can clear browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, and cached data at any
time from the App's settings.
- You
can use Incognito mode to browse without saving history.
- You
can revoke camera/microphone permissions at any time; this will disable
image and voice search only.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect data stored
on your device and any data transmitted to third-party services (e.g. HTTPS
where supported by the destination site). However, no method of transmission or
storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes
will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated
policy.
